Patrick Henry may have exclaimed, “ Give me liberty or give me death!” Yet it was Crispus Attucks, a man of African and Native American descent, who first gave his life for the birth of American democracy.
Unity Concepts, Inc. launches the Crispus Attucks Youth Service Organization in his honor.
The Crispus Attucks Youth Service Organization seeks to cultivate, train, and educate youth to serve their communities.
GOALS:
- To assist youth in educational and cultural development.
- To engage in outdoor/adventure activities
- To introduce and train youth in the principles of community organizing.
- To engage youth in community service projects
ELIGIBILITY:
- Youth ages 13 to 18
- Currently attending school
- Willingness to commit
Participants must attend tutorial sessions, which will address their educational needs as well as prepare them for higher educational or vocational training. The participants also attend and experience positive cultural events.
